Fishing the Paraná

The dorado fishing is generally done on stream like channels that run through the delta formed by this giant river. The dorado is the great sport prey: it could be described as a cross between the Salmon and a bull terrier.

This fish has the same hunting habits as the trout and holds in water with structure such as sunken logs and undercut banks. Also, the dorado usually takes surface flies, such as Bombers and Poppers, which are very effective, thus providing an extremely amusing and interesting fishing experience. At the time of the take, a hard fight between the angler and the fish begins, which, far from exaggerating, will leave them both exhausted. Once the specimen is caught, the dorado will become airbone showing its beautiful gold scales, which glitter in the sun.

Most fish caught on a fly weigh between 3 and 5 kilos. No matter the size, they are always ready to take a surface fly.

The area crossed by the Paraná Gypsy during this kind of excursions is subtropical and teems with wildlife. Hundreds of birds species populate the lush vegetation along the fished streams. At times, bands of howling monkeys in search for their females interrupt the silence of the Paraná rainforest.

Kilometers and kilometers of braids run along the mighty Parana, which is waiting eagerly for the visit of lovers of sport fishing. Iguazú Anglers know these waters well and will put you in the best spots available in this huge river.
