Pinamar Restaurants

As it is expected from one of the most exclusive beaches in Argentina, there are plenty of gourmet offers. Here we present three distinguished sites that can please the most demanding palate.

Cantina Tulumei

The secret is to visit this place in the early evening. After an intense day on the beach, there is nothing like gaining back the lost energy enjoying an exquisite sea board, with squid rings, cornalitos and calamaretis with lemon and iced beer, of course.

Whoever approaches this table will appreciate the prolific cuisine of the chef –Cristián–, who shows diligent knowledge on the production of seafood dishes. After tasting the starter patiently, he will delight us with a tasty calamar pelayo with noisette potatoes, with red and green peppers on the side.

As your dish is getting ready, you can enjoy the emotional decoration that constantly reminds you of seamen: reels, fishing-rods, nets and life preservers, combined with various sea species that grant a special “touch” to the room and make fishermen feel identified with the environment.

Tunumei is the only site in Pinamar where fresh fish is the specialty. Roberto Alabi awaits the visit of customers to provide them with a good service and tons of fishing anecdotes at sea.

After dinner, we recommend a Don Pedro dessert –ice-cream refined with whisky and chopped nuts–, which will remarkably refresh your palate, softening the taste of the squid in your mouth.

Viejo Lobo

If you are lucky enough to visit Pinamar, come by to Viejo Lobo. The cuisine of this bar & restaurant has a strong blend of history and the aromatic flavors of the sea.

Beyond the time of the year you choose to make your visit, Oscar Crecenti opens the doors of his place 365 days a year, offering full service as far as breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner are concerned, with an almost endless variety of dishes.

As a hot starter, dare to try the very local gambas al ajillo, with garlic, paprika and ground red pepper, which acquire a distinguished flavor when combined with white wine.

If you have some time to spare, let yourself be delighted by Viejo Lobo’s cuisine. As main course, we recommend a sole fish in dark butter with capers and mashed potatoes. Mouth-watering and subtle.

For dessert, nothing like an apple pancake flambéed with rum right in our faces and decorated with an ice-cream ball.

Estilo criollo

A good atmosphere is present here. A pleasant illuminated environment, with country hallmarks that distinguish the restaurant and grill, turned this place into an unquestioned referent at the time of tasting creole dishes. Good quality plates, long-stemmed glasses, glittering cutlery, tablecloths and napkins complete the scenery for enjoying an agreeable moment.

Sergio Elso, its owner, has supervised the service provided to customers for over 15 years. His experience tells him to recommend us the overwhelming cold meat board, on which raw ham, stuffed rolled beef, olives, mozzarella and pecorino cheese from Sardinia are delicately arranged and captivate our sight.

After the starter, do not miss the deliciously tender pork chest slowly roasted on firewood.

Creole desserts deserve a separate chapter. A sweet profiterole stuffed with ice-cream and covered with hot chocolate, or an overflowing cup of berries are applauded by all customers.

After tasting such dishes, you can enjoy the outstanding facilities, wandering along its galleries and balconies. It is also possible to have your meal in the open air.

Tante

This is one typical restaurant in Pinamar. It opened its doors 15 years ago, when its owners José Pablo and Sonia Oswell resolved to materialize the dream they had had for a long time.
That is how Tante was born. This place also has branches in Cariló and Villa Gesell. José Luis Miranda has been its chef for the last 9 years, and he tells us that this place is a real paradise for lovers of the German cuisine, where in addition to traditional dishes, customers may enjoy almost other 70 dishes with the most varied tastes, from the typical regional cuisine to some international options.

“Tante”, which means “aunt” in German, seats 400 people per day. During the day, tourists making their way to and from the beach along Bunge Avenue can be seen from its large windows. In the evenings, everything changes and the place mutates. Its music and decoration with candles turn this site into the star of the show. The quietness of the night in Pinamar relaxes visitors and haste does not exist. Thus, eating with glamour becomes delightful in this city of the coast.
Among the specialties, customers may taste the cheese, meat and chocolate fondues as, apart from the restaurant, the place offers true German pastries. The chucrut, the white and red sausages and the smoked pork cutlets, as well as exotic cold meat and the famous goülash, stand out among the dishes preferred by exclusive customers.
There are two unique recipes that visitors must taste before leaving Pinamar. The first one is golden mollejas sautéed with tomato and fresh basil. The second one is mushrooms stuffed with ham and mozzarella on a cream mirror.
Unique wines accompany all dishes properly.
For dessert? Let yourself be carried away by the delicious cakes or tarts, ranging from strudel and kuchen to some of the excellent ice-cream desserts treasured in this place.

El más…allá

It is located in the northern beaches of Pinamar, which can only be accessed by 4x4 vehicles.
This place is the first resort you can see once you reach the end of the urban area in Pinamar; but in case no double traction vehicle is available, you only have to call Roby Cozzi, the owner of this site. He will pick you up on one of his trucks and take you to this exclusive resort.
Hammocks, youths, perfectly tanned bodies and wooden buildings with straw roofs spread along the beach welcome us as we approach the attractive circular building that lets visitors watch the sea and the high dunes typical of the area from any of its large windows.

Daiquiris, drinks and milkshakes of all colors mingle among visitors to accompany savory and sweet crêpes made in front of all the attendants. The dulce de leche crêpes are excellent and they are stuffed with nuts, chocolate and bananas. Most times, they are served with banana milkshake: the most popular drink of the summer. Ham and cheese, Roquefort or fontina cheese crêpes are mostly ordered for a savory lunch.
At sunset, the resort gets ready for the night and becomes a high-class restaurant, as good as any of the most ancient and important restaurants in Pinamar. But it has a great advantage: having dinner in the moonlight under the stars looking at the sea and listening to its sounds. The fair colors of the dunes and the horizon gets lost in the black darkness of the night, and the time comes when the torches are lit to accompany a friendly dinner, although the romantic evenings in candlelight are ideal in this place.
The customers’ two favorite dishes are the cheese fondue and the pierrade, an ancient recipe with seafood, meat and vegetables cooked in the heat of the stones. A site which is beyond… as expressed by its name in Spanish.
