The city of Cosquín, watered by the homonimous river, is the head city of Punilla Department, in the Province of Córdoba. It is at 720 meters above sea level bordering on the north with Casa Grande, on the east with Sierras Chicas Range, on the west with San José and La Pampa de Olaen and on the south with Santa María de Punilla.
The annual average temperature is 20ºC and there is a mild air that makes the region an ideal place to recover from breathing illnesses.
Cosquín is well kown due to its famous Summer festivals: the "Festival Nacional de Folklore" (Folklore National Festival) at the Plaza Próspero Molina, Escenario Atahualpa Yupanqui (Av.San Martín and Obispo Bustos) [2018 dates: January 20rd through 28st]
and the "Cosquín Rock Festival" at Santa María de Punilla (Route 38 and Gral.Savio) [2018 dates: February 10th through 11th], the town calls together thousands of people from everywhere. These Festivals are important for the identification of local music and dances inside and outside the country.In this region, one can enjoy peaceful resorts and beaches which are more than 20 mts wide with fresh and clear waters where excursions in boats, swimming or windsurfing are at hand.
The surroundigs of Cosquín can be visited by means of going on four track excursions or hicking along inhospitable tracks full of peace and natural harmony. Cosquín is the place where nature and man's culture join together in order to offer the tourist the typical features of Argentina.
