Immigrant Communities Festival

Immigrant Communities Festival
Location: Gimnasio municipal de Lago Puelo, Av. 2 de Abril y Av. Los Alerces
Date: When11/2017

The community of Puelo celebrates a highly appreciated date every year. This festival commemorates the first days of the village and the origin of the first settlers who populated this splendid Patagonian nook.

The Immigrant Communities Festival is celebrated every year in Villa Lago Puelo. It commemorates the creation of the first local Neighbor’s Committee in 1928. For a while now, this event has summoned both steady denizens and tourists who gladly join in the festivities.

As part of the Andean Shire, on its early days Puelo welcomed Chileans as well as Lebanese and Ukrainian people who took charge of agricultural tasks. Years later, Swiss, French and German settled down there. Eventually, the Argentinian came to this land too.

Integration happened spontaneously and that is why the program includes the memory of the old settlers who boosted the region. Stalls showing stuff about each community are put up. Their costumes, habits and typical dishes are on display. All this is accompanied by sports and cultural activities, handicrafts markets, artistic performances and popular dancing.
