For several months during the year, the streets of the seaside destination known as Mar Chiquita dresses up in color and movement. The cabins and inns offer comfortable accommodation options and the stores reopen.
As the temperature raises and the days are finer, the shady hospitable streets of this village get crowded with people in search of permanent action. The locals usually ride a bike or small motorbikes and almost all of them, including tourists, choose to walk.
In addition to supermarkets, telephone booths, a medical center and small restaurants, some fashionable spots, such as pubs, appear in the high season.
Everything lies nearby and, even though the town is small, it has a history told by the local denizens year round. A typical example is the Visitors’’ Assistance Center, also known as El Refugio (The Refuge). The building dates back from 1930 and it is considered the most ancient house in the village.
