Situated only 100 km away from Capital Federal, Mercedes it is a center which is ideal to do minitourism to people who wish to spend a dinamic weekend or days in the country surrounded by a beautiful natural environment.

It is popularly known because of the delicious dishes you can try in the country restaurants of Tomás Jofre ( neighbour city). Mercedes city provides you with the chance of enjoying agrotourism, sports, first flights or visits to different cultural centers.

The climate in this region is template humid mesopotamian with an average annual temperature of 16º C. Winter is mild with average temperatures of 9º C while Summer is also mild with an average temperature of 23º C.

To get to this city from Buenos Aires City, you can take "25 de Mayo Highway" until Acceso Oeste (West Access). Take that access and a few kilometers before getting to Luján City, take Nº5 National Route till kilometer Nº100. The route signs will lead you directly to Mercedes.
You can also get to this city taking Sarmiento Railway Line departing at Once Station - there are two trains in weekdays and one in the weekend.

You can visit Touristic Estancias that offer you the possibility of enjoying country activities like ring runs, horse rides or participate in folkloric shows.
From Mercedes City, you can go on tours to one of the biggest municipal parks of the Province - Parque Independencia (Independence Park) which is 54 hectares big and has unfilthy woods that provide you with the chance of camping by Luján River that crosses the land.

Other places that cannot be missed in Mercedes are the Municipal Astronomical Observatory, the famous "Pulpería" (general store) from 1830 and the Natural Sciences Museum as well as the Historical Museum of the city.
