Virgin of the Hill

Every Saturday, Tres Cerritos neighborhood welcomes a mass pilgrimage that has worshipped the so-called Virgen del Cerro (Virgin of the Hill) for over two decades now.

The Christian faith of the people of Salta and a religious event that took place in the 1990s have given origin to a pilgrimage repeated every week.

After the apparition of the holy virgin before a lady from the community, a chapel was settled down in Tres Cerritos for Catholics to attend.

Ever since, an endless parade of men and women of all social classes have come along by bus and car from distant points in the country to see the sanctuary and take part in a day of meditation and prayer organized by Mrs. María Livia herself on behalf of the Immaculate Mother of the Divine Eucharistic Heart of Jesus.

Attendants pray for their sick relatives, ask for some favor or give thanks. Access to the chapel is available on foot. No vehicles are allowed, save for exceptional cases like disabled people.

Silence or soft chants accompany retreat and the miracle is rekindled.
