Parque Luro Provincial Reserve, located 40 kilometers away from the City of Santa Rosa, La Pampa, stands out for the presence of animals who live freely in the caldén woods inside this territory. Specimens include red deer, observable at any season.
During March and April, a special event takes place: the breeding season. This show is repeated year after year and it may be appreciated during a guided tour led by experts inside the park.
The deer may be watched during the daytime or at night. In the sunlight, the behavior of the herds may be observed while showing off their imposing antlers and appearance. At night, the deer dwell in a big salt deposit and start fighting for their territory and female in heat. The male carries out the mating ritual and its bellowing may be heard at long distances. They usually fight using their antlers, assaulting and defending themselves in order to accomplish their aim.
