Independence Park and Morisco Castle

Tandil is crossed as a backbone by the Serrano system of Tandilia, with low mountain d'or herds in the center and north, which are transformed into tabular plains to the west and south. Among the valleys of slight lomadas that descend from these mountain d'or herds, the city is interted. Parque Independencia is located in a privileged place, as a natural viewpoint of the urban area.

A Tandil classic

This public park was opened in 1923, on the centenary of the city of Tandil. Independence Park is the meeting place for artistic and expressive events and the site where the city celebrates its founding events. It is considered a classic walk of Tandil, one of the must-see to have a panoramic view of the city.

A granite portal of Renaissance Romanesque design frames the entrance to the park, which gives access to the hill and all its landscape beauty, and is its most representative postcard. In a village made up of several communities of immigrants, it was the Italians who presented the portal of the park and the Spaniards, the Morisco Castle that is located at the top of the hill.

An equestrian statue of the founder, General Martín Rodríguez, dominates the hill and the view of the city. On the slopes of the park are located spaces to enjoy showsoutdoor places. Among them, the Plaza de las Banderas, with green environments ideal for spending the afternoon, hiking and enjoying the groves, and the Garden of Peace, with the monument dedicated to the discovery of America and traditional gardens with flowers that give a very particular charm. On another side is the Martín Fierro Amphitheatre, with carved stone stands, in which events and recitals are held, in particular, the easter performances, the folklore meetingsthe festivals of the famous tandilero cheese. At the foot of Independence Park, the promenade integrates with Lake Del Fuerte, another traditional circuit attended by Tandilenses and visitors.

In the Morisco Castle that crowns the park operates a restaurant where you can have lunch, dinnertea while different views pass, depending on the hours of the day, especially the sunsets. To ascend to the castle, you can opt for the carclimb the stone steps, in a frame surrounded by trees such as cedars, pines, eucalyptus trees, broads and acacias.
