During July, the City of Zapala dresses up to celebrate the anniversary of its creation. For such purpose, various tourist, historical and cultural events summon different generations in the streets to rejoice in the fact that this important city in Neuquén gets one year older.
Featuring dry climate and famous for its strong winds, this charming city is a must visit while traveling some of the most outstanding roads in Neuquén.
The so-called Pehuén Portal lies towards the northwest. Copahue and Caviahue, very important hot spring and ski centers in the country due to the properties of their waters and the quality of their snow are located in this region.
Likewise, other highly relevant lake corridors –such as Junín de los Andes, San Martín de los Andes, Villa La Angostura and Villa Pehuenia- famous worldwide for their mountains, crystal-clear rivers and lakes are easily accessed from Zapala.
In the last few years, the city has enthusiastically welcomed various gastronomic and accommodation options due to the intense tourist activities generated by the routes that connect Zapala with eastern Argentina.
The opening of an attractive casino, its commercial life and its culture, as well as the thriving mineral industry, turn this city into an ideal destination to be visited year round and especially in July, when all the local denizens remember its origins once again.
