While in Mar Azul, vacationers may walk to Mar de las Pampas. An ideal hike for those who feel like getting away from it all.
History goes that the first city in the area to have been fully afforested was Villa Gesell and that after the success attained by Carlos Gesell, other visionaries wished to follow his steps. That is how other small districts emerged at the far end of the village. Today, those locations are known as Mar de las Pampas, Las Gaviotas and Mar Azul. The three of them are delightful. However, once we get to know them, we realize each of them has their own features which make them unique.
Due to political and corporate reasons, there have been authorities that refused to let the pavement reach these districts. Even though it was once a decision resulting from the wish to prevent these three villages from making progress, today, we can assert this was a blessing in disguise, as these streets made of sand guaranty the peace and quietness of these sites. Time passes slowly here.
Mar de las Pampas is the woods, luxury and Patagonian architecture. Las Gaviotas is the eccentric resorts with spa and heated swimming-pools. Mar Azul is an ideal spot to enjoy with the family, where the sea and the woods first gave origin to a large camping site and then to cozy cabins that provide accommodation in paradise.
In the summer season, leaving Mar Azul very early in the morning or in the late afternoon is the best option. The set destination: Mar de las Pampas. However, according to the time of the day tourists choose to walk, they can have two very different experiences.
Visitors who start walking very early in the morning will surely reach their destination at noon. They will enjoy the commercial center of the city taken from a fairy tale, including gnomes and elves. Then, a perfect plan is to have lunch at some of its restaurants immersed in the woods.
On the other hand, those who start their walk at the end of the day will be delighted by the hues of the forest. Not until they come across the people who chose to spend the day on the beach and are going back home stepping on the cold sand, will they know they are close to the heart of the city.
Once there, hundreds of warm lights will make them feel as if they were in Patagonia and at times they will confuse that scene with San Martín de los Andes or Villa La Angostura. The sound of the sea will bring them back to reality in a matter of seconds.
Going back to Mar Azul is perfect at both times. In the former, walkers will get back in the early afternoon and will still have time to get everything ready and go to the beach. In the latter, they will walk in the cool night appreciating countless stars among the tree canopies.
A perfect walk for anyone at any time. Ideal for the entire family as the distance between both cities is not long. And there is also the chance to cover it by bike.
