The Simple Things in Valeria

This is one of the most popular destinations among families who visit the Atlantic Coast in search of quietness, sea and lots of sand. Children and grown-ups are happy alike. All this thanks to Valeria…

Valeria del Mar borders on Ostende to the North and on Cariló to the South.
All these villages belong to the District of Pinamar, which lies just 361 kilometers from the City of Buenos Aires.

Scent of a Woman

The village was given named Valeria after Valeria Guerrero, the former owner of these lands. The sand streets along with some other refurbished or even paved streets turn this seaside destination into the ideal choice for families year round, especially in the summer, when the waves lure everyone to dive in these tasty waters.

Valeria is a quiet beach where woods prevail. Its shops offer everything visitors need. Some pubs, coffee houses and restaurants immersed in the commercial area contribute the necessary services for tourists to avoid going all the way down to Cariló or Pinamar in search of supplies.

Though it has experienced a considerable growth -according to the first denizens of the town-, Valeria still preserves the charm of its early days.
Some ancient venues continue providing visitors “the fish of the day”, the best pasta in town and therefore an endless queue at the door. Likewise, many people await the hard copy newspaper to read on the beach and be informed about everything that is happening in the capital of the country.

Valeria features incredible beaches where it is still possible to see clams at the break of the day. We must remember it is forbidden to remove them from the beach. Another typical sight at that time is the fishermen who get up early to catch some croakers that approach the shore everyday.

Cariló and Ostende Lie Close

To reach Cariló, it is necessary to walk southwards. The walk is totally worth the effort. The reward is the view of amazing mansions, a beach called Hemingway where visitors may have lunch and a golf course immersed in the woods that invites everyone to relish a cup of coffee while beholding the green peace all around.

To reach Ostende, on the other hand, adventurers need to walk towards the north. A few blocks away from the commercial center of Valeria del Mar, several signposts will show the way around Ostende.

La Elenita, the summer house once owned by former President Arturo Frondizi is located next to the old promenade of the pioneers and the Old Ostende Hotel (which has been completely recycled and made even more luxurious) are some of the must visit during the walk.

That is the magic of Valeria. Some people consider it the favorite destination on the Atlantic Coast. It is a small town that will make everyone fall in love with its simplicity and its small unique attractions.
