During the weekends of January and February, the city will dress up in color, feathers and sequins for the murgas and comparsas to show off at the local corsódromo.
Having its own
corsódromo (one of the reasons to make the locals proud),
Gualeguay is a city where carnival has a prominent role every summer. No wonder it is said that it has one of the most spectacular carnivals in the
Province of Entre Ríos. The beauty of its women, evidenced by the paraders in the
Si-Si, K- Rumbay and
Samba Verá comparsas, in addition to the strength of the drums played by the male paraders, manage to summon neighbors of all ages to join the groups at each presentation of the Carnival. Many times, they surpass the one hundred members, including dancers, paraders,
bazucada and mascots. Kilos of foam and hundreds of tubes are left scattered around the streets of town and the surroundings of the
corsódromo after each show on Saturday night. And so significant is the participation of the people in the Carnival that it is breathed year round.
Some say that the slogan reading “the most amusing in the country” is not enough. Just being there on a Carnival Saturday, people can easily realize why the various comparsas that take part in the event are tempted year after year to go on tour and unfold so much joy in the most unthinkable corners of Argentina.
